Çanakkale Belediye Başkanı Ülgür Gökhan, 24 Temmuz Gazeteciler ve Basın Bayramı dolayısıyla açıklamalarda bulundu.
Gökhan, yaptığı açıklamada, çağdaş ve demokratik toplumların en değerli unsurlarından biri olan basının ancak özgür, tarafsız ve objektif olduğunda işlevini yerine getirebileceğini belirtti.
İnsanların temel hak ve hürriyetlerinden biri olan haber alma hürriyetinin basın hürriyeti ile doğrudan ilgili olduğuna işaret eden Önder Gökhan, 24 Temmuz 1908’in basın için çok kıymetli bir gün olduğunu vurguladı.
Tüm basın çalışanlarının 24 Temmuz Gazeteciler ve Basın Bayramı’nı kutladıklarını belirten Ülgür Gökhan, mesajında şunları söyledi:
“On the occasion of the anniversary of the removal of censorship from the Turkish press on July 24, I celebrate the press holiday with the wishes of a free, uncensored and impartial press that is not oppressed or subjected to injustices because of their ideas and opinions or what they write or bring to the language, that can present their work as required by the professional elements, and I offer my greetings and greetings to all press workers who devotedly do this job, whose rules can be quite challenging, and who strive for accurate news and freedom of the press.”
